The outermost layer is a 2.5-millimeter-thick density 80 foam, providing cushioning without unnecessary bulk. The thickest portion of the chamois--the place where a rider's "sit bones" actually make contact with the saddle--measures a comfortable 14.5 millimeters and is constructed from three layers. The first layer uses 80-density foam at 2.5 millimeters thick, while the second layer features 120-density foam that's 4 millimeters thick.
